Become A Friend

The Friends of the Portrait Gallery are supporters, active contributors, or simply people interested in participating in the growth of a national arts institution.

The Friends group contributes actively to the Gallery’s development and provides valuable links to the wider community.   From its inception in April 1995 the Friends have given practical help in many ways:

  • providing resources to facilitate the Gallery’s efficient functioning
  • assisting in mounting exhibitions
  • catering on exhibition opening nights
  • supervising the Gallery during exhibitions

Benefits of a Friend Membership

Friends receive newsletters and invitations to all our functions, exhibitions, opening nights and regular lectures or events held in conjunction with an exhibition. This includes access to lectures from international visitors such as directors of National Portrait Galleries or judges of the biennial Adam Portraiture Award among others.
