Michael Smither, CNZM is a New Zealand composer and painter who works in a variety of media - notably oils, acrylics, and screen-print – often concentrating on domestic life. Smither abandoned painting for several years to concentrate on musical theory, applying harmonics to a variety of visual observations.
Smither was one of Novak’s early mentors and supported and encouraged him to explore the relationship between image and sound in his work.
