It's time to start finding subjects and painting faces. Entries for the Adam Portraiture Award 2020 are now open.
The biennial Adam Portraiture Award is New Zealand’s most prestigious portraiture competition. The award is generously sponsored by the Adam Foundation and is one of the country’s longest running art prizes.
This year there are two judges - Karen Quinlan, Director of the National Portrait Gallery of Australia and Dr Lara Strongman, Senior Curator Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū.
The winner of the competition, as selected by our judges, will recieve a $20,000 cash prize. An additional prize of $2,500 will be awarded for the runner up, alongside another $2,500 prize for the People’s Choice, awarded at the end of the Adam Award exhibition.
The winner of the 2020 Adam Portraiture Award will be announced 26 February 2020.
2020 Adam Portraiture Award exhibition runs from 27 February to 31 May 2020 at the New Zealand Portrait Gallery.
