Judges Profiles
Linda Tyler
We welcome Linda Tyler back for a second time as judge of the Adam Portraiture Award. Linda has taught art history at Canterbury, Victoria, Waikato and Auckland Universities, and at Unitec and Otago Polytechnic, and been an art curator at Waikato Museum, the Hocken Library and Gus Fisher Gallery. She has judged many art competitions, including the Wallace Art Awards, the Waikato Contemporary Paint and Printmaking Award, and the Craigs Aspiring Art Prize. Linda is now convenor of Museums and Cultural Heritage at the University of Auckland, and curator of the 2022 Sculpture in the Gardens at the Auckland Botanic Garden.
Karl Maughan
A first time judge of the Adam Portraiture Award, artist Karl Maughan graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts in 1986. Karl has been a finalist in the 1997 John Moores biennial painting prize at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. His work is in national and international collections including the Saatchi Collection, Arts Council of England, and Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
