Our Adam winners return!

In 2020, Aotearoa’s most prestigious and popular portraiture prize turned twenty-one. To celebrate the occasion, we are showing all 11 winning portraits.

Generously supported by the Adam Foundation, the Adam Portraiture Award provides New Zealand portrait artists with the opportunity to be recognised for their skill and celebrates this important genre of painting.

The portraits included in this exhibition highlight the many faces of Aotearoa and reflect the diversity in styles we receive. Adam artists are as young as fifteen, can live as far away as Berlin and can enter paintings with such strange materials as human hair!
